Certification Levels
The supplier certification and qualification process encompasses four levels:
Transactional: Providing a one-time purchase requirement on items that are readily available in the market (“off the shelf”) such as Maintenance, Repair and Operations (MRO) items, and equipment rental.
Preferred: Providing materials or services that are not critical to our core business but are strategically sourced through Supply Chain with a long-term contract in place. These include those offering facility and pipeline construction services or staffing/recruiting services.
Strategic Alliance: Providing materials or services that are critical to our core business or with whom we expect to spend more than $1 million annually. These will be governed by a written multi-year contract and include distribution transformers and engineering/design services.
Rejected: At times, suppliers may be rejected due to their inabilitly to meet certification standards. Suppliers are encouraged to resubmit to the qualification process after a set time period.
